Letting Things and People Go!!!
By Steve Clenor, BA, MSMS
If you have heard the quote, "One Monkey Can't Stop The Show", you will completely understand what motivated me to write this article. It is about the people, things, and connections that come in and out of your life in the process of building your brand. While at a point they may have sold you on what they bring to the table, does not mean you have to keep buying what they are selling if their actions don't match their words. When I decided to build something from scratch, I knew it would take a lot of work, dedication, and sacrifice to make it something that eventually I would be proud to represent. My company is called "Relentless Hustler Entertainment, Inc.", and a few businesses fall under that. You do not give yourself such a moniker if you're not ready to grind everyday relentlessly. Lack of effort has never been a problem for me as I have always been a relentless soul seeking to make my way in this world and ignore obstacles in the process of climbing one step at a time. I knew this would require patients, determination, and unwavering belief in what I'm doing. So, believe me when I tell you that I don't intend to stop doing what I have committed to, sacrificed for, and all my hard work will not have been done in vain. I have now realized, for the sake of succeeding, I must remove some of my obstacles by letting go of those people and things whom don't believe in what I'm doing, don't see my efforts, and can't see my vision. As I have said before, "if you can't see my vision, you can't be part of my mission."
I have decided to communicate how I feel in an effort to move on. I will not be able to control how others will receive my message or delivery. I'm simply saying, if perhaps someone is offended by my words or actions, maybe it's time they look at what they are doing and why I would choose to offend them. Nevertheless, the only thing I could and did control was my behavior and actions during the time I spent knowing them and working with them. I realize that maybe at times, my message may not have been well received or delivered the wrong way, so I do not want to completely focus on what others did that was wrong, I take the reponsibility of not being able to make things work despite everyone's efforts. However, I refuse to lament on what I or anyone else could have done better, in actuality, it just not working, so it's time to try something new. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. Happy to say, I'm not insane, so it's time to try other avenues and see what they bring. In life, when trying to resolve a problem, you can either remove yourself from the situation, change your surroundings, or accept things as they are. In this case, I choose to change my surroundings and keep building on what I have been doing for the last year. Although there is no promise of success, it's the best way I can think of to avoid failure.
