Doing What It Takes!!!

Growing up in the New York school system, I often heard teachers tell my fellow students, "use your common sense." It wasn't until later in life that I realized common sense is just not that common! By the same token, I realize that doing what it takes to get the job done is not everyone's mentality. Not judging anyone's hustle, but it is astounding to me that anyone could say they want to be part of the music industry or have lofty goals, but at the same time not ready to do whatever is necessary to get it done. It appears that some people expect to find a magic pot of gold somewhere instead of realizing that there are no substitutions for hard work. It is true that there are artists and industry professionals whom has made it by strokes of luck by running into the right person or being connected to someone whom introduces them to that person who help their career advance. You can clearly hear it in their music. Next time you hear a song and you ask yourself, "how the hell did that get on the radio?", that's the artist I'm talking about. However, that is not something to bank on as an artist or music industry hopeful. The only things in life you can control are what you decide to be/do and the efforts you put forth to get it.

When the reality of what it takes to make it hit some individuals, it can spell the doom to their already non-existent music careers. Despite all the new technological advances and the easy access to almost everyone because of social media, some industry hopefuls still refuse to put in the effort necessacey to advance their chances of making their dreams come true. Ironically, their predisposition remains the same, they want things handed to them on a silver platter. Many artists and industry hopefuls remain reluctant to push themselves and make things happen, they seem to want others to do it for them. Amazingly, it is their lack of trying that shows that maybe they don't deserve to make it. It is the pervebial lack of do what it takes and hesitation that often causes them to miss out on their window of opportunity. Although I have not reached my ultimate goals, it is safe to say that part of what I've learned in life is that success does not happen by accident. It takes, effort, commitment, hardwork, dedication, and sacrifice. I also know that success is not just standing outside your doorstep and all you have to do is open up the door to let it in. In fact, it is quite the opposite, you've got to be leave your comfort zone and put yourself out there to create your opportunity. Finally, nothing that's given to you without you deserving it lasts, so if you know what you want, that's half the battle, now you just gotta get to work and do what it takes to make it a reality.
